Asgard Legends OverviewAsgard Legends is a Norse-mythology slot from Mancala Gaming, released on 30 July 2024. It plays on 5 reels and 3 rows with 20 fixed paylines, and its story is a duel: the Viking hero Bjorn against a giant wolf, each of them a wild symbol of his own. Mancala’s own description sets the scene: Bjorn fights the wolf to protect his tribe, and the battle carries over into the free spins, where the two characters face each other across the top of the screen. The slot is built around that rivalry rather than around a long list of side features – wilds, respins and one free spins round are the whole toolkit. SlotCatalog lists an RTP of 95% and a maximum win of 11,510x the bet. No volatility rating is published, so we leave that field open rather than guess. The numbers below come from our demo session, played at DEM 100 in the base game and DEM 40 for the bought free spins. A Battlefield Under the MountainsThe reels float over a green valley with snow-capped peaks behind them, flanked by two carved stone pillars with glowing braziers. The symbols are cut from stone and gold: a golden Viking helmet, a golden amulet, a silver arm ring, a horned helmet and a round painted shield, with the card ranks A, K, Q, J and 10 set in diamond-shaped runes. Winning symbols light up in gold. The PaytableThe paytable lists cash values for the current bet, and the two wilds sit at the top of it together with the golden helmet: each pays 4,000 for five, 800 for four and 400 for three. The golden amulet pays 1,000, 200 and 100, and the silver arm ring 400, 80 and 40. Because the wilds pay at the same top rate as the golden helmet, a line completed only by wilds is worth as much as the best regular symbol – there is no penalty for a wild-heavy line. Below them the values drop quickly. The horned helmet pays 100, 60 and 40, the round shield and the ace 50, 40 and 30, the K and Q 40, 30 and 20, and the J and 10 30, 20 and 10. Five wilds or five golden helmets are therefore worth eighty times five aces, which tells you where the value of the game lives. The rules page also notes that the total win is capped by the operator: at the bet shown there, the cap was DEM 545,659. Two Warrior WildsThe two wilds are characters. Bjorn is a blond Viking warrior and the Wolf is his enemy, and both substitute for the other symbols on the lines. When a wild lands, the game marks it with a RESPIN label: the reels spin again while the wild stays in play, and the wilds can move to new positions from one respin to the next. SlotCatalog lists walking symbols, moving wilds and expanding symbols among the features, which matches what the captures show. The practical effect is that one wild can pay several times. In our captures the same Bjorn wild took part in consecutive wins as the respins ran, and each new position opened different lines. With 20 fixed lines on a 5x3 grid, a wild in the middle reels touches far more lines than one on the edges. Our respin sequence at DEM 100 shows how the chain builds. The first win was 50.00, the next 200.00 with two Bjorn wilds on the grid, then 425.00, and finally 1,025.00 with two wilds side by side in the middle of the reels. The winnings counter at the bottom stood at DEM 1,650 – 16.5x the bet from a single base-game sequence. The Battle Free SpinsThe free spins are called the Battle bonus, and according to the game’s description they start when the two wild warriors clash on the reels. In the round a bar runs across the top of the screen: Bjorn’s portrait on the left, the Wolf’s on the right, each with a multiplier and a counter, and a streak of lightning or fire between them. In our round Bjorn carried x4 and the Wolf x2. On the last free spin a line of golden helmets and amulets was multiplied by x4, and the spin paid DEM 640 on a 40.00 stake – 16x the bet from one spin. The balance shows how the whole bought round went. It stood at DEM 18,860 right after the purchase and at DEM 19,500 when the last free spin had paid, so the round returned DEM 640 in total – 16x against a 36x price. All of that came from the final multiplied spin; the first four spins had paid nothing, which is a fair reminder of how uneven a five-spin bonus can be. The Buy Bonus FeatureA Buy Bonus button at the top right opens the round directly. The offer reads “Win 5 Free Spins! With additional multipliers”, and at a stake of 40.00 per spin the total cost was 1,440.00 – 36x the bet. The award screen confirmed 5 free spins once the purchase went through. The panel has plus and minus buttons for the stake per spin, and the total cost is shown next to it before you confirm, so the price is always visible in advance. Five spins is a short round, so the multipliers do most of the work: a single x4 spin returned almost half of the purchase price in our session. Paylines and ControlsThe info pages draw all 20 paylines, from the three straight rows to V shapes and zigzags across the grid, and wins pay from left to right. The autoplay panel comes with two safety options: a loss limit that stops autoplay once your losses exceed the amount you set, and a win limit that stops it when a single win reaches your chosen amount. The main controls sit on the right: spin, autoplay and the stake menu. The Numbers to Keep in MindA 95% return is a little below the market average of about 96%, and it is worth knowing before a long session. The 11,510x ceiling, on the other hand, is high for a 20-line game, and it comes from the combination of the stacked warrior wilds, the respins and the battle multipliers rather than from the paytable alone. Who Should Play ItAsgard Legends suits players who like a story on the reels and features that build over several spins. The respin chain in the base game and the duel bar in the free spins give the game more movement than a standard 20-line slot, and the paytable is short enough to learn in a few spins. It is less suited to players who look for a high RTP, because 95% is below what many modern slots offer. Where to Play Asgard LegendsYou can try this game on SunClub Online Casino.
